SPSE BACK WITH ITS FREE LUNCH-HOUR SEMINARS
The South Pacific Stock Exchange (SPSE) is once again starting-off with its eminent free one-hour seminars conducted during lunch. These seminars are part of the Exchange’s Investor Education Program initiatives for the year. Through this seminar, the Exchange intends to ensure that people are given sufficient information and contact for advice that makes them more committed to start saving and investing for their future financial goals through looking at investment in the stock market. This one-hour session will feature a brief introduction by the Exchange and will have one of the licensed stockbrokers outlining general investing tips, understanding of the basic stock market data, evaluating risks and returns and other fundamentals of share market investing. The presentation will be followed by a session of questions and answers.
SPSE Chief Executive Officer, Ms Jinita Prasad said “everyone today appreciates the need to save for their individual financial goals and all goals can only be realised through proper financial planning as the fact remains that the financial decisions that we make today will to a large extent significantly affect the lifestyles we lead in the future. Many people who decide they need shares as part of their investment portfolio often hesitate when it comes to actually buying the shares usually because they are not sure if it is the best time to buy or they feel they still have a lot to learn about the share market. As such, during this seminar, the participants will be able to consult the available investment advisors and the stock broker representatives to receive advice and place orders to purchase shares in securities most suited to their financial objectives”. Ms Prasad also highlighted that this seminar would be a way of comparing returns from the stock market with other investment returns especially in light of dividends from share investments being tax-free for Fiji residents and the exemption of listed securities from the Capital Gains Tax.
The stipulated venue of the seminar is at the DeVos on the Park (Former JJ’s on the Park) in Suva on 16th May 2012 commencing at 1pm. This is a free of charge event, however registration is vital. Registrations can be done by calling the SPSE office on 330 4130 or e-mailing your interests on firstname.lastname@example.org
